HuLi Avalakki (gojju avalakki ) ಹುಳಿ ಅವಲಕ್ಕಿ (ಗೊಜ್ಜು ಅವಲಕ್ಕಿ)

Here is the recipe for preparing huli avalakki:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup avalakki - Grinded to Coarse Powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup tamarind juice
  • 1/2 cup grated died coconut
  • 2 tsp rasam powder
  • 3 tsp jaggery
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • For seasoning:
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 1 tsp chana dal
  • Groundnut
  • 10-12 curry leaves
  • 6 tbsp oil

Instructions:

  1. Add Tamarind juice to a vessel
  2. Add rasam powder, Jaggery, Salt & mix until Jaggery dissolves
  3. Add the powdered avalakki
  4. Soak the avalakki water for 10 minutes.
  5. In a pan, heat oil and add the seasoning ingredients.
  6. Once the mustard seeds crackle, add the soaked avalakki powder and mix well.
  7. Add the grated coconut & turmeric to the pan.
  8. Cook on medium flame until the mixture thickens.
  9. Serve with medium to low hot
